Brighton & Hove Albion’s Jakub Moder has emerged as a potential target for VfB Stuttgart next summer. According to Sky Deutschland, several factors make the midfielder an appealing option for the German club.
Stuttgart’s sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, previously signed Deniz Undav and Mo Dahoud from Brighton during the summer window. Now, Wohlgemuth and Stuttgart are keeping a close eye on Moder, who made his season debut in Brighton’s EFL Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.
Moder was sidelined between April 2022 and October 2023 due to a serious knee injury and has struggled to gain regular playing time since recovering. Brighton originally invested €11m to sign the Poland international from Lech Poznań in 2020, but his contract expires at the end of this season, leaving the club at risk of losing him for free next summer.
The 25-year-old can play as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder, which fits well with Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß’s style of play. Stuttgart considers Moder a “very interesting” option, both from a sporting and financial perspective. While no concrete talks have taken place yet, the potential transfer is still in the early stages.
If Brighton wants to keep Moder, they will need to act quickly and offer him a new contract to avoid losing him to Stuttgart.
