Former Cardiff Boss laments in 3 words how working with Vincent Tan can be ..

Former Cardiff City manager Mark Hudson has shared insights into the challenges of managing the club under Vincent Tan’s ownership and expressed his admiration for the performance of current manager Erol Bulut this season.

Hudson, who took over as manager after Steve Morison’s departure in September 2022 but was later relieved of his duties in January 2023 following a winless streak, acknowledged the significant pressure associated with the role, particularly due to Tan’s involvement and financial investment in the club.

Speaking on the BBC’s EJFOF podcast, Hudson reflected on the increased interaction with Tan as a coach and manager compared to his time as a player, emphasizing the owner’s desire for success and his tendency to inquire about football-related matters.

Regarding Bulut’s tenure, Hudson praised the Turkish manager for steering Cardiff to a mid-table position this season, a significant improvement from previous seasons marked by relegation battles. He highlighted Bulut’s effective utilization of young players, such as Cian Ashford, and successful recruitment, including the partnership of two center-backs and the performance of goalkeeper Ethan Horvath.

Despite acknowledging room for improvement in certain aspects of the season’s performance, Hudson expressed confidence in Bulut’s leadership and the team’s response to his tactics, as evidenced by their results on the pitch.

Moreover, Hudson emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent from the academy, citing Joel Colwill as a promising prospect, and advocated for a continued focus on developing a pathway for youth players within the club. He believes that investing in young talent not only adds value to the club but also instills a sense of belief and ambition among emerging players, contributing to long-term success and sustainability.

In conclusion, Hudson’s insights shed light on the dynamics of managing Cardiff City under Tan’s ownership, the progress made under Bulut’s leadership, and the strategic importance of fostering young talent for the club’s future.
