Tim Steidten and David Sullivan are’seriously contemplating’ management – West Ham fans instantly ‘love’ him

West Ham United owner David Sullivan and director of football Tim Steidten are’seriously considering’ Paulo Fonseca as their top candidate to succeed David Moyes.

According to Foot Mercato, West Ham fans ‘love’ the Portuguese coach due to his work at Lille.

Moyes is expected to leave West Ham in the summer following a successful second tenure in charge, which saw them win the Europa Conference League and establish themselves in the top half of the table.

When his contract expires this summer, the Hammers are expected to go a different way, and Fonseca might be the guy to lead them there.

FM reports that his performances in France with Lille, as well as their success in Europe, have drawn the attention of the West Ham leadership.

Sullivan and Steidten, in particular, are now’seriously exploring’ a move for him, having previously targeted Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui.

Their ‘attention’ has shifted from those two to the Lille manager, with a ‘good likelihood’ that he will depart the French club before June.

Interestingly, that is a timetable that has previously been proposed in relation to West Ham, with a story earlier this week indicating that they wanted things completed by June on the management front.

It’s unclear whether this implies Fonseca is now the number one target, but he appears to have made an impression and is on the list of potential Moyes replacements.
