Neil Critchley, the former head coach of Blackpool, is reportedly being considered for the Hearts position.
“Not the Old Firm” claims that Critchley has been in communication with the club’s administration over the open manager position. After parting ways with former Norwich City and Everton attacker Steven Naismith last month, the Edinburgh club has been looking for a new manager for a few weeks.
Still, it seems that Critchley’s appointment is not a done deal. The Daily Record claims that Per-Mathias Hogmo, the leader of Norway, is also reportedly being considered.
The choice between Hogmo and Critchley for the new appointment will be left to Hearts. Tony Bloom, the owner of Brighton & Hove Albion, is expected to increase the number of clubs he owns in the coming weeks. It appears that Hearts looked to Bloom for statistics in the managerial positions.
The team that Critchley or Hogmo will take over is currently at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. Even though they have lost their last eight league games, they are only three points behind.
They are participating in the UEFA Conference League group stages as well. Hearts will play games against Omonia, Heidenheim, Cercle Brugge, Copenhagen, and Petrocub after defeating Dinamo Minsk in their league round opener.
Since being stripped of his responsibilities at Bloomfield Road in August, Critchley has not had a job. After losing their first two League One games without a victory and missing out on a play-off spot on the last day of the previous season, the club decided to part ways with him and bring in Steve Bruce in his place.
Blackpool has improved since Steve Bruce took over, moving from the relegation zone to only a few points outside of the top six. Last Saturday, Mansfield Town defeated the Seasiders 2-0, resulting in Bruce’s first league loss of his reign.
