Celtics Re-Fill Last Offseason Roster Spot After Waiving Recent Signing

Dmytro Skapintsev was signed by the Celtics on Tuesday to an Exhibit 10 contract, securing their last roster space for the offseason. The seven-foot-one center played for the Westchester G League club of the Knicks for the previous two seasons. During the previous season, he averaged 10 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks.

This action was taken a few days after Jordan Schakel was waived by the NBA champions. Previously, Boston signed the six-foot-six sharpshooter to an Exhibit 10 contract in response to its twenty-first and last offseason roster opening.

If Schakel stays with the Maine Celtics for at least 60 days, which appears likely, he will receive a $77.5 thousand bonus.

For Boston’s G League affiliate last season, the 26-year-old former San Diego State star averaged 13 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. Moreover, he made 40.2% of his shots from beyond the arc.

During his time with the Wizards in 2021–22 and 2022–23, Schakel had six appearances in NBA games. In six minutes of action, he has career averages of 1.3 points and 1.3 steals.
