Contract detail seals Ricciardo’s F1 fate

The disclosure of Daniel Ricciardo’s contract terms appears to have sealed his destiny in Formula 1.

Red Bull is apparently planning to fire the Australian driver of the Visa CashApp RB after the Singapore Grand Prix, thus it looks like the Australian’s days behind the wheel are numbered.

Young Kiwi Liam Lawson is anticipated to take Ricciardo’s spot during the four-week break prior to the United States Grand Prix in Texas the following month.

Red Bull chief executive Helmut Marko told Viaplay, “We have an idea, but we have to wait until Singapore.”

Even though it’s just September, we will know exactly what to expect from Singapore. What happens with the second seat will be quite evident.

Lawson’s contract with the team has now come to light, and two stipulations have fueled the fury.

One provision is that if Lawson does not sign a deal for a race seat by the end of September, he will become a free agent, according to AutoRacing1.

But it’s the second clause that truly portends Ricciardo’s downfall.

There are rumors that the second one assures him of at least five or six races this season.

The 2024 season will consist of six events after the Singapore Grand Prix.
