Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers will be ready when the New York Jets begin outdoor practices on May 20.

 

Coach Robert Saleh said on Friday that the 40-year-old “will not have any problems” eight months after his Achilles surgery.After a celebrated season in Green Bay, Rodgers’ debut with the Jets ended after just four games in 2023 with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Saleh confirms Rodgers is on track to participate in the “third phase” of OTAs; This phase is a four-week period in which teams can conduct 10 practices without competition from 11-11.”Coming into the third round, we don’t expect there to be any restrictions on what we can and can’t do with him,”Saleh told reporters at the start of the two-day rookie minicamp on Friday.

 

Rodgers participated in training on a limited basis in the last month of last season.”He can keep pitching,” Saleh said on ESPN’s. “Obviously he is still going through the rehabilitation process, but there are no problems with that process.”Rodgers compiled a 147-75-1 record with 59,055 yards, 475 touchdowns and 105 interceptions in 230 games (223 starts) for the Packers from 2005-22. He made 10 Pro Bowls and led Green Bay to a Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.The Jets’ backfield also includes veteran Tyrod Taylor and rookie Jordan Travis, who was selected in the fifth round out of Florida State last month.
