Luton Town – Another Player Prepares to Leave Kenilworth Road
Continuing our series on players not included in Luton Town’s retained list, we now turn our focus to Fred Onyedinma.
Fred, who joined the Hatters from Wycombe Wanderers in May 2021, quickly made his mark by scoring a goal and providing two assists in a memorable 3-0 victory over Peterborough United on the opening day of the season.
Throughout the campaign, Onyedinma played a significant role in Luton Town’s successful ascent to the Premier League. However, as the club faced tougher competition, his opportunities to shine in the top flight were curtailed when he was loaned out to Rotherham United for the duration of the season.
Despite this setback, Fred’s return to Luton Town during a period of injury crisis showcased his commitment to the team’s cause, albeit without securing their place in the Premier League.
With his contract set to expire, the decision has been made not to extend an offer to the versatile player for a new deal.
Do you agree with this decision?
It remains uncertain where the 27-year-old will continue his career, but it would not be surprising if an EFL Championship club expressed interest in securing his services.
Indeed, it wouldn’t be unexpected to encounter Fred on the pitch again in the upcoming season.
