Luton Town manager Rob Edwards believes Carlton Morris’s first-half goal in their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland should not have been ruled out for offside. With Luton dominating the first half, Morris found the back of the net after a header from Daiki Hashioka. However, the assistant referee raised the flag, ruling that Jordan Clark, in an offside position, was interfering with play.
Edwards disagreed with the decision, saying, “I don’t think Clark was doing too much to affect the play, the ball’s direction, or any Sunderland player.”
After the disallowed goal, Sunderland took the lead through Chris Rigg, but Luton quickly equalized via Elijah Adebayo’s header. Romaine Mundle’s strike later sealed the win for Sunderland. Despite a late rally, including a missed chance by Clark and denied penalty appeals, Edwards concluded he had no major complaints other than the offside call.
