As his Norwich City team defeated Hull City 4-0 at Carrow Road, Johannes Hoff Thorup praised what he called “beautiful moments” and claimed that the game’s quick start laid the stage for an overwhelming victory.
After creating a flurry of chances against a wide-open Tigers team, Norwich’s margin of victory was well-deserved. Had Josh Sargent not slammed his second-half penalty against Ivor Pandur’s post, it could have been even larger.
The Canaries’ unbeaten home run in all competitions was extended to 23 games with goals from Marcelino Nunez, Sargent, Kaide Gordon, and the outstanding Borja Sainz. This abruptly halted City’s three-game winning streak and left them facing a crushing defeat.
Despite Tim Walter’s team rallying in the second half and creating some dangerous moments, a defensive blunder gave Gordon an easy third before the incredible Sainz lobbed Pandur to finish the rout in the closing minutes. The hosts had a chance to take the lead inside the first few minutes, but Pandur denied them. Nunez and Sargent then made it 2-0 after just 20 minutes.
“That’s the reason we work in entertainment—to try to keep people entertained, play games that we enjoy, and spend time doing what we love. The Carrow Road chief stated, “The best parts of the game today were really beautiful moments and definitely why we’re here.”
“We created two chances before we scored the first goal, which was the smallest of them all, and then a fantastic goal for the second one. The game started off fantastically.”
“For us, it was all about moving forward and attempting to get the next goal. There were a lot of guys involved in our goals. I believe it’s extremely, really good, especially the first twenty-five minutes.
We still have a ways to go before we can dominate this league for ninety minutes. Ideally, we will be able to accomplish this at some point in the future when we won’t have to play so defensively. We still need to examine and make improvements in that area,” he clarified.
“Something will always be present. I’ll take another look at the game once I get home and eat dinner with my family. And because it’s a delicate balance, we must always find moments—sometimes too many.
“While we must acknowledge and savor the wonderful times we experience, we also have a duty to improve even further the following week. We must always evaluate performances severely, thus we do so every time.”
