The driver departed Mercedes and signed with the team.
After leaving Mercedes, two-time F1 world esports champion Jarno Opmeer secured a long-term contract with Red Bull.
After defending his title and joining Mercedes in 2021 as the current world champion, Opmeer finished fifth and fourth in the next two seasons.
Although it was previously known that he was leaving Mercedes, he has since signed on to work for Red Bull, where Frederik Rasmussen won the 2023–24 championship.
Opmeer, who will join Rasmussen’s partner, is the only one with more titles than him.
“I am very excited to begin my journey with Red Bull Sim Racing,” stated Opmeer.
“We have been working hard for tonight, which is my first race with the squad. It’s going to be a terrific first week because I’ll be at the Dutch GP this weekend as well. I am eager to see what the future holds.”
“Jarno joining our team is not only a reflection of the hard work behind the scenes from both ourselves and Team Redline, but also a statement of intent to create sustained success in Sim Racing from Red Bull Racing,” added Joe Soltysik, head of Red Bull’s esports division.
“A lineup of Jarno Opmeer and Frede Rasmussen is the strongest possible combination of drivers in F1 Sim Racing and will hopefully bode well for our chances to reclaim the team Championship title.”
