Trent Williams Disciplined by NFL for Punching Chiefs Player

San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Trent Williams has been fined $11,817 by the NFL for punching Kansas City Chiefs safety Bryan Cook during their Week 7 matchup, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Cook, who threw the initial punch, received a fine of $8,442.64.

The incident took place late in the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 28-18 victory over San Francisco. While Williams was ejected immediately, Cook avoided a penalty due to officials missing his initial action.

Williams’ fine was higher than Cook’s because fines are calculated based on a player’s salary. With Williams earning $27.7 million this season, compared to Cook’s $1.2 million, the difference in fines reflects their respective incomes.

This isn’t Williams’ first encounter with league fines; the 36-year-old has faced substantial penalties throughout his career due to multiple on-field altercations.
