In the lead-up to Friday night’s Championship matchup between West Brom and Luton Town, a concerning double injury report has surfaced.
West Brom’s struggling team must defeat Luton.
The weekend action will begin when the Baggies go to the Hatters, where they look to make a much-needed comeback to winning ways in the league. The supporters are extremely frustrated since West Brom has drawn their past four Championship games and hasn’t had a real victory in the league since defeating Plymouth Argyle 1-0 at home in September.
In many respects, Carlos Corberan’s team has experienced a shocking decline in performance. Before losing 3-2 at Hillsborough and failing to recover, they were leading the table going into their trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
As a result, even though his team is still in fifth position, Corberan is beginning to feel pressured. To be fair, the manager has also been negatively impacted by a number of injury issues, with players like Kyle Bartley, Semi Ajayi, and Paddy McNair all experiencing recent setbacks. In that regard, a worrying update has already surfaced.
West Brom suffered two injuries.
Journalist Matt Maher posted a devastating update on X, confirming that Ajayi and McNair will be sidelined for four and two months, respectively.
Given how crucial a defensive duo Ajayi and McNair are, this is a terrible update for Baggies supporters, and it will not in the least increase Corberan’s prospects of turning things around.
This is a huge setback for West Brom, as the two will probably miss a total of 34 games if they are sidelined for as long as Maher has forecast.
Although the Baggies must still make due without the two players—and Bartley, for that matter—it is undeniable that this could significantly affect their chances of moving up from the Championship to the Premier League this season.
