Okay Yokuşlu, a quality midfielder, is apparently the target of a surprise approach from Turkish team Trabzonspor, which West Bromwich Albion is expected to accept.
Yokuşlu may decide to leave the Baggies if they are unable to advance to the Premier League through the play-offs, or at least that is what is being said in his own country.
Turkish publication Sports Digitale claims Trabzonspor is “arranging another meeting with Yokuşlu” after holding discussions halfway through the season with the midfielder’s representatives. Reportedly, Trabzonspor, who placed third in the Süper Lig last season behind Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, is thinking about extending an offer.
Yokuşlu, who ineup, as demonstrated by the underwhelming performances of Yann M’Vila and Nathaniel Chalobah in Yokuşlu’s base midfield substitutions.
The Albion conundrum is ahead.
If a proposal is accepted, West Brom will have to make a big choice because Carlos Corberan needs new recruits this summer, so sales must be made. Although the Spanish head coach is hesitant to let go of important players, Yokuşlu’s contract ends next summer, so a sizable enough quantity of money would be alluring.
Yokuşlu has appeared in 105 games for West Brom since joining on a free transfer from Celta Vigo in July 2022. During that time, he has five goals and two assists. The 30-year-old seems to be having fun at The Hawthorns, but his hopes of rejoining the Turkey national squad may depend on his next professional call-up.
Moving to Trabzonspor, where he played for 106 games from 2015 to 2018, might give him the required starting point. The UEFA Europa League, the second-tier club competition in Europe, is where the Black Sea Storm will play next season.
