After WREXHAM’s convincing 4-1 League One victory over Northampton, assistant manager Steve Parkin said his team’s superiority at the top of the pitch was evident to all.
Cameron McGeehan’s equalizer was sandwiched between a goal by Jack Marriott and an early finish by James McClean. After the break, Elliot Lee’s header and McClean’s volley sealed the victory for the promotion-chasing hosts.
Parkin praised his team’s performance in the final third and saved special praise for Ryan Barnett, who contributed three assists in the thrilling victory that maintains Wrexham in second place in the standings.
“Any victory is satisfying, but I believe the way it was won was very fulfilling for all of us in terms of our preferred style of play,” he stated.
“When they’re playing well, I believe we limited a strong side. We’ve studied the tapes, and they have some extremely strong players, so winning 4-1 is truly satisfying.
“Amazing goals were there, and some of the crossing was very typical. Our main goal is to attempt to replicate that caliber in the last three minutes, and they succeeded admirably.
“I believe we did a great job of opening up the game by swiftly switching the ball from left to right on multiple occasions. This allows Barnett, who is dangerous when he runs at his full-back one-on-one.
“We’re very happy for him because he’s direct, quick, and had a great crossing.”
