Brad Hills will make his Norwich City comeback next week after missing the previous two weeks due to a minor back ailment.
After making an impression throughout the preseason and earning a new, long-term contract at Carrow Road, the highly regarded teenage defender has been conspicuously absent from City’s matchday teams and under-21 games.
After a successful season at Accrington last season, Hills has been putting pressure on City’s frontline defense choices, and sporting director Ben Knapper and manager Johannes Hoff Thorup have decided to keep him in the team despite loan interest.
The manager of City explained the England U20 international’s predicament and expressed optimism that he will soon return Thorup disclosed, “He had some back pain issues and has been out for 12 days now.” “The difficulty with him is that he hasn’t been on the field or in training.
“He experienced pain and was unable to train, but it’s nothing serious. He had a scan to check for any issues, and everything came out normal, so we simply need to treat him. I believe he will be prepared to participate once more by the beginning of next week.”
However, Thorup has benefited from a double training return, as this week saw the return of Tony Springett and Christian Fassnacht, two wingers, to team training after back and Achilles ailments, respectively.
“Fassnacht has been in with the group, and Tony Springett is also a player that we don’t talk that much about, but it’s also really nice to see him back,” added the Dane.
It’s good to see him again after he’s been fighting to rejoin the group. This week has seen a fair number of guys, and as the season progresses, it’s helpful to have some choices.”
Following an injury, Tony Springett is back in Norwich City’s training.
Thorup stated that there are no new injury concerns as City gets ready to travel to Cardiff without their three main players, Angus Gunn, Marcelino Nunez, and the suspended Kenny McLean.
“There aren’t any major worries [for this weekend]. Maintaining the group’s energy while still making the most of the training days to be ready, grow, and get better is always a delicate mix,” Thorup added.
“Coming out of the game on Sunday, it’s been okay, and the players are feeling good.”
